# GIVING TUESDAY

October 30, 2015

Though you may think that it is too soon to be focusing on the first Tuesday in December, we only need to go to the mall where Christmas items have already begun to appear.  Again this year, nationwide, the first Tuesday of December will be designated # Giving Tuesday. This is the day that the nation comes together to focus on giving to those organizations and agencies that are working to make our communities better. This collective effort is one that raises awareness of the needs in the nation, as it raises funds to address those needs.

As in the past, the Detroit Public Schools Foundation seeks your participation in this day of giving. We ask that you help us to help the students in our schools. We are especially asking that you think about the opportunities that the career and technical centers offer for students to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to achieve a successful career. This year we are adding a special incentive for you to give. As the result of the generosity of several supporters, there will be incentives to your giving. All those who contribute will be entered into a pool to receive selected gifts. More details about these gifts will be forthcoming over the next four weeks. Watch for this information.
