Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern MichiganAfter starting his career in the traditional nonprofit sector with the YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee, Shawn found his passion for Social Entrepreneurship and became a champion of innovative and scalable solutions to social issues. Shawn’s servant leadership style has been featured in the New York Times and during keynote speeches at MIT, Harvard and the Clinton Global Initiative University.
In 1998, Shawn founded SWI Consulting Inc., a full service philanthropic consulting firm in Atlanta, Ga., which specialized in strategic planning, program development, brand integration and board development. In his role as President/CEO Shawn spearheaded the launch of more than a dozen charitable non-profit organizations for high net-worth individuals.
In 2004, Shawn partnered with 8-time Grammy Winning Artist, Usher Raymond IV to re-launch Usher’s New Look Foundation and helped establish its mission, Board of Directors and unique youth impact model. During his decade long tenure as President and CEO, New Look collaborated with Emory University Goizueta Business School to train & certify 21,000 youth leaders across 4 continents and 9 countries including the United Kingdom, China, South Africa and Philippines.
In 2008, Shawn literally “wrote the book” on celebrity philanthropy with the release of “Good Works, Not Good Times, A Guide to Effective Celebrity Philanthropy”.
In June 2014, Shawn joined Ford Motor Company Fund and has over-all responsibility for Southeastern Michigan in addition to the Asian and Middle-Eastern communities.
Shawn serves on the Board of Directors for The National Drop Out Prevention Center/Network, Advisory Board for Pony Ride a Detroit based micro business incubator and Children Health Care of Atlanta, Hughes Spalding.
Shawn earned his Bachelor of Science in Management from Shorter University in Rome, GA.
