The DPSCD’s Office of Equity, Advocacy and Civil Rights is sponsoring a Virtual Student Showcase as part of the District’s celebration of Arab- American National Heritage Month. The theme is “The Arab-American Experience: What is meaningful to you in your culture?”.

Submissions must include the student’s name, teacher’s name, grade level and title of project and sent to megan.syed@detroitk12.org. The subject line should read: Arab-American Heritage Month and include the Project and School Name.

Projects can be submitted in any of the following forms: Essay, Poem, Artwork, Video (mp4 format), Dance, Rap, or Song. For essays and poems, students should record a reading of the essay or poem as part of the submission in the mp4 format. In addition, students submitting projects in other formats may also include a 2-3 minute video (mp4 format) discussing their submission.

SUBMISSION ARE DUE NO LATER THAN APRIL 16, 2021.

This virtual project is open to all students, not only students of Arab descent. All students will receive a certificate of participation.
