Camp Burt Shurly- Volunteers

Detroit Public Schools alumni, colleagues, and friends are needed to help with beautification projects at DPS Camp Burt Shurly preparing it for DPS student campers. Beautification Day of Service: May 14, 2016 from 8:30 a.m-4:30 p.m.

There is no cost to participate. Camp Burt Shurly beautification projects include painting, cleaning and gardening. Lunch and free bus transportation will be provided.

Camp Burt Shurly is a licensed residential summer camp specifically for DPS students between the ages of 8 and 12. At no cost to student families, each year the camp hosts 100 students per week over an eight-week summer camp term, for a total of 800 students. This will be the first camping experience for these students that would otherwise not have the opportunity.
