We are celebrating our graduates who are looking forward to embarking on their chosen college and/or career pathway.  This past school year, we focused on ensuring that students and families had the resources and services needed to help students succeed.  Financial assistance helps young people focus on their dreams and worry less about the increasing financial costs of training and education.  Many of our partners provide scholarships and financial assistance, encouraging students to pursue their post-secondary and career goals.

At the end of the school year, we attended the A. Phillip Randolph Technical High School graduation, where 36 program completers received $250 from the Vietnam Veterans of America, Detroit Chapter #9 (VVA9).  Those that are going into a skilled trades program or career track, will receive another $250 from Home Builders Association.  Carhartt will provide a $250 gift for those entering skilled trades workforce.  Wow!

Then over at the Detroit Lions Academy, four eight grade students each received a $5,000 Detroit Lions Inspire Change scholarship to be used upon graduation from a DPSCD high school, if they maintain a 2.5 GPA over the next four years.

These are just two great examples of the opportunities partners like you provide.  Thank you VVA9 and Detroit Lions Charities for all that you do for our students.

36 students are counting on the Detroit College Promise scholarship awarded in August.  We are $43,000 from our goal.
