Cycle III Grant Awards

The DPS Foundation is pleased to announce awards to the following applicants for Cycle III grants. These awards are made with our priorities in mind of early childhood education, STEM programs, the Fine and Performing Arts, and experiences beyond the classroom. Unfortunately other worthwhile request were not able to receive support due to the limitation of available funds.

  • Arts and Scraps – STEM professional development for teachers
  • Jerry White Center – a sewing class with Renaissance High School and Jerry White Center students
  • Mackenzie Elementary-Middle School – Smart Board and teacher professional development
  • Chrysler Elementary – travel to chess tournament in Indianapolis, Indiana
  • Bennett Elementary – cultural education initiative
  • Detroit Historical Society – field trips to the museum
  • Detroit Institute of Arts- 79th Annual DPS Student Exhibition
  • Michigan Opera Theater – Dance Theater of Harlem and American Ballet Theater Master classes at DSA
  • Breithaupt Career and Technical Center – purchase knife sharpener for culinary arts program
  • Randolph Skills Center – Small house project
  • Ben Carson School of Science and Medicine – Exploring careers in dentistry
  • DPS Office of Homeless – support for clothing purchases
  • Cody Health and Science Academy – Exploring careers in dentistry
  • Breithaupt Career & Technical Center- support for driver education for auto mechanic students
  • Moses Field- iPad purchase
  • Nichols Elementary/Middle School- building maintenance
  • DPS Homeless Program

Congratulations to each of the recipients. We are confident that these experiences will strengthen the delivery of a high quality education to the participating students.
