The Ford Resource and Engagement Center (FREC) located inside DPSCD’s Fisher Magnet Upper Academy on Detroit’s far eastside, continues to provide resources to our families and those in the surrounding communities.

With an unwavering commitment to our children, Halloween and the holidays were filled with safe events and giveaways to celebrate customs and traditions in spite of COVID’s numbing limitations. Recently, as part of their commitment to fight the virus, Ford is reinvesting proceeds from sales of ventilators to produce and deliver 100 million masks to at-risk communities around the U.S. – and the Ford Motor Company Fund donated 100,000 masks and 150 headsets to DPSCD students. We hope to soon return to in-person learning and every precaution will be taken.

Since COVID closed our schools last March, the Ford Motor Company Fund has ensured that students and families received food distribution through our Gleaners partnership as well as other basic needs identified by the District. Additionally, community-based organizations have continued offering services at the FREC through an appointment-only process to ensure health safety. The facility is guarded 24 hours daily and under strict Ford protocol, the FREC receives deep cleaning to mitigate COVID exposure to staff and visitors.  We thank Ford Motor Company Fund for all that they do. Always generous, always answering the call, always caring about their community. We are so very grateful!
