The DPS Foundation conducts three funding cycles each year. The latest cycle, for programs and activities conducted over the summer months and the first three months of the school year, concluded with 15 awards totaling nearly $450,000 to Detroit Public Schools and non-profit agencies serving DPS students. The Board is pleased to announce awards to the following applicants:

  • Detroit Public Schools  —- Uniforms for homeless students.
  • Keidan Special Education Center —- Community garden.
  • Carr Center —- Summer Arts Academy and Saturday Arts Academy.
  • George Washington Carver STEM Academy —- Science program.
  • Paul Robeson Malcolm X Academy —- Fun, Fit, and Reading Recess program.
  • Detroit Children’s Choir —- Choirs in two schools.
  • Burton International Academy —- Instrumental music program.
  • SAE Foundation —- A World In Motion STEM program.
  • Detroit Public Schools —- STEM programming
  • Bennett Elementary —- Library books and shelving.
  • Benjamin Carson School of Science and Medicine —- Textbooks for students participating in “dual enrollment” program at U of M-Dearborn.
  • Detroit Public Schools —- All City High School Marching Band.
  • Detroit Public Schools —- Reading Corps.
  • JVS —- Career Start program.
  • Detroit Public Schools —- Grow Up Great pre-k teacher training program

The next funding cycle will close on September 15 for winter funding needs.
