The Detroit Public Schools Foundation is pleased to announce the receipt of a generous donation of $15,000 made on behalf of Ms. Denise Lewis an alumna of Mumford High School and trustee of the McGregor Fund.  The gift was made under the McGregor Fund’s Trustee Designated grants program, which allows trustees to support a school of choice. Ms. Lewis’ trustee designation will support Mumford High School student organizations.

The funds will be used to support five student organizations involving literacy, arts, band, and fitness.  Student organizations competed for funds by presenting their ideas to a committee that consisted of school staff and community members. The winners were chosen based on academic/learning connections and outcomes, critical thinking, cooperative learning/teamwork and community impact.

The Detroit Public Schools Foundation thanks donors like Denise Lewis and McGregor Fund for the generous support to Detroit students.  Our students need the continued support of alumni to provide value-added programs and activities for their benefit.

DPS alumni who are interested in giving back to DPS students should contact Erica Sanders, Alumni Development Specialist at esanders@dpsfdn.org or 313-873-8976.
