July 02, 2014

The Foundation is pleased to announce the first recipient of the Roy and Maureen Roberts Scholarship. Ms. Sabrina Emerenini, a graduating senior at Cass Technical High School has been selected by the Scholarship Committee as the recipient for 2014. Ms. Emerenini will be attending Wayne State University in the fall to begin her studies in pre-med/biology in her quest to become a physician.

The Roy and Maureen Roberts Scholarship Fund was established at the Foundation by friends who wished to honor and recognize Roy’s service to the Detroit Public Schools. Scholarship recipients are to be selected annually by a scholarship committee, of principals, teachers, and counselors, from among students who have been accepted at a four year college or university, have a record of community service, demonstrated leadership ability, and have counselor or teacher recommendations. The Fund continues to accept donations from individuals or agencies that wish to honor Roy Roberts and/or wish to assist average students in their goals to attain a four year degree. Funds may be sent via mail to the Foundation, or donated on line through our website.
